Party Venues
Without a suitable party venue there can be no party so after
making your guest list, the next most important thing to consider
is the party venue. The party venue you choose should be suitable
for the occasion, number of guests you are inviting and any
requirements they may have.
Overcrowding at a party will make everyone feel uncomfortable
so a quick count of the guests on your list will tell you
the minimum sized party venue you will require. However you
do not have to be exact as unless its a formal dinner and
you have asked for RSVP not everyone who says they will come
to the party actually will.
Its a mistake to hire a party venue that is too big for the
number of guests you are expecting because parties work best
when people are in reasonably close proximity to each other.
You do not want your party guests jammed in, but with room
to mix and mingle freely. Your Guests will be able to do this
a lot more easily if they are not rattling around in a massive
warehouse sized venue. On the other hand its a mistake for
the venue to be too crowded. We suggest the number of your
guests should be no less than 50% of the maximum capacity
of the venue and any thing up to 90% will still give everyone
enough space to breath.
The other obvious and yet very important consideration is
does the venue project the right atmosphere, and does it lend
it self well to the type of occasion you are planning. If
its a wedding reception you may feel a hotel or country club
is a more appropriate setting than the local scout hut, on
the other hand if its a kids party the scout hut will be perfect.
Its also a reality that some of your guests will not last
through the night without a smoke break and this means a trip
to the outside world. If your organising a family party above
a pub for instance, consider how your 90 year gran is going
to keep racing up and down those stairs. Your gran may also
find it a bit of a chore if the loos are not on the same floor
as the party and there is no lift.
If you are having a long family party such as a wedding,
then its almost certain you will have young children amongst
your guests. If you can find a venue with a 'safe' outside
area you could hire a bouncy castle to keep them busy. This
outside area will also be perfect for your smokers. If you
still cant find a venue then marquee
hire may provide the perfect party venue already on your
doorstep.
